Dan, I'm glad to hear from you! :)

I realize a good VR system could beat it all.
However still hasn't hit the quality bar. People are lazy, but impatient even more. They get frustrated when misunderstood. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sAz_UvnUeuU

There is also this awkward feeling when talking to machines. Might be a psychological thing - certainly need further research.

For the gaming consoles - this idea is way better than current solution (I'm going to measure it soon, but it's just obvious to see). I start believing there is some kind of conspiracy for making the game-pad typing as miserable experience as possible.

Regarding PCs - I haven't exceeded the regular keyboard performance yet, but want to try few more tweaks & think it's achievable. It won't be an order of magnitude, hopefully something like 20%. Should be enough to build a small geek community. I'd expect it to get more traction with Kinect.

Best regards,
MarcinK

Hey, man. Dan here. Nice posts.
I'm going to be devil's advocate as usual: I think people are lazy. And as such they don't want to type. They want to enter the information. Thus it's easier to do that by voice. The only reason I need to use a kb on a console is because I want accurate text input (for address, name, CC, etc.), but that case can be solved with VR by having good spelling recognition.

That's actually valid for PCs and other things too. If I would have good VR+a simple pointing device (like the good ol' mouse) you could do almost everything and be faster than with a kb.

Another one of my points would be that if one needs to retrain a good chunk of kb users to switch from QWERTY to chord kb or voice or sign language, then it better be something of an order of magnitude better.

Cheers,
/Dan
P.S. Everything is OK.
